Attract Blue Jays

Bold, beautiful and decidedly noisy, the blue jay is a highly intelligent bird and a colorful addition to your feeders. They often act as sentries, their loud cries being a warning to smaller birds that a predator is in the area. Blue jays are large and they do eat a lot—often taking more than their share of birdseed, which they sometimes cache under leaves and in trees. Provide them with sunflower seeds, peanuts, suet and mixes containing nuts on a platform feeder with lots of space to perch and they’ll leave your smaller birdfeeders for the more timid songbirds.
