Cute, curious, and utterly charming, the chickadee may be a common bird, but no one tires of watching their comical antics. Chickadees cling upside down on birdfeeders; hammer open seeds clenched between their feet, and fearlessly try out new feeders almost as soon as they’re put out. They even call out their own name—“chickadee dee dee!”
Reward them with black oil sunflower seeds, Duncraft’s nutty Chickadee Blend, suet or suet nuggets. And although they often nest in old woodpecker holes, if you put up a bird house, chickadees will happily raise a family there.
