This winter roosting box is a very beautiful and durable bird house. It was larger than I expected which is a plus, it can hold several birds on the removable ladder inside and it opens in the front for complete cleanout. Our winter here in Colorado is just getting underway and I was so excited to see birds checking it out the very first afternoon that we put it up! It snowed last night and I saw a bird sticking it's head out of the hole to check the weather today. It has small holes already drilled to mount from the back, but it would be really easy to mount it on a post from the bottom by drilling a hole, open the front door and bolt it directly to the post from the inside. I had a bracket for the back mount, it does not come with one. You can also turn the door on the front around so the hole is at the top for spring nesting. I am going to use mine strictly as a roost as we have very unpredictable weather here in Colorado year round and I know the birds are going to love it. You will too! All of Duncraft feeders and houses are the best well made products out there. I have 10 year old feeders from there and they are all going strong!
