This works very well at keeping ants out of my syrup feeders. Just open gently to avoid breaking the connection apart. Once it's up, that's it. You don't need to replace water or oil as in moat type guards. 4 stars only because it is easy to break if you pull apart too vigorously....otherwise 5 stars because it is so easy to use and keeps ants OUT!

Had an terrible ant problem with a window feeder. Replaced it with a hanging feeder using an ant guard. Ants have vanished. On a separate feeder in another area I've used the same ant guard for multiple years with no ant problem.
