Attract Hummingbirds

These smallest of all birds carry iridescent green on their backs and gem-like color as a throat accent. Their feathers have special cells that refract light. When light strikes at just the right angle, suddenly you see a shimmer of brilliant color. Did you know that hummingbirds are only found in the Americas? When the Spanish first saw hummingbirds in the New World, they called them “joyas voladoras”—flying jewels. Attract these magnificent little birds with a nectar feeder filled with sweet nectar and place it in a shady spot or among your flowers. Hummingbirds are very territorial and will return to your feeder year after year.
