Greatest peanut feeder,
This feeder hangs in my front yard from fall through spring. The blue jays love it and provide quite a show. They watch for me every morning and send out a call as the feeder is being filled. Many blue jays arrive on cue and feed until it is empty for the day! Can't imagine not having this feeder and the pleasure it provides to me, the birds and the occasional squirrel or two.

Take Notice
Take notice that the mesh holes are a tad too big and the peanuts will drop to the ground when a large bird like a Blue Jay (my Blue Jay's don't seem to mind the 'clearance') lands on it losing most of the peanuts in the feeder and feeding the nuisance squirrels instead. Manufacturer might want to consider making these openings at least 1/4 if not 1/2 of what they are right now.

Size may be problem
I am just ordering this item. A comment from one user states that blue jays will not use it. I believe the reason to be is that the heighth is too short. Blue jays are large and 7" clearance for them is not enough. For the Titmouse and smaller woodpeckers it is ideal. This item with a 10-12" deck clearance would be perfect. Hope the mfgr of the item sees this suggestion. Going to send directly to Duncraft also. Happy birding.

Squirrel!
This is a durable, attractive mesh peanut feeder which I purchased to attract squirrels. It hung in my little backyard tree for weeks without being touched. The few squirrels we get in the neighborhood (and only in the last 6 months) only visit out front and the ones that go in the back only visit my neighbor's backyard, not mine. Might be due to the fact that I have cats. Finally, last weekend, while I was in bed sick with the flu, I heard crows squawking up a storm. The latest squirrel (Looter) that's been coming around since the end of December, was the subject of these crows squawking on the phone lines over my backyard! Sure enough, when I looked out the window, I saw the squirrel in my backyard--he found the stash in my little tree and spent a good half hour raiding the mesh feeder and running around my backyard burying them! I got some pictures but they're not great as they were taken thru the window. Thank you, Duncraft, for another well-made product.

Well made
This is a great peanut feeder. The entire feeder is metal and very sturdy. The woodpeckers and tufted titmouse love it, but my blue jays won't touch it. I am hoping they will warm up to the new look of their feeder.
