Weight sensitive collapsing perches support birds, not squirrels!

The curved perch positioning encourages cardinals and small songbirds to eat, but prevents all squirrels from feeding. Hang the feeder so that squirrels can only reach the feeder from above. Keep it away from branches or poles where the squirrel can just reach over to the feeding ports. Each perch is individually sprung and calibrated for birds up to the weight of a cardinal.

The metal cap prevents squirrels from reaching seed from the feeder top. Built in seed flow director keeps seed fresh at all four ports. The cap and feeder base are evening blue powder coated metal. Hanging, holds 5 lbs.

  • Whipper Squirrel-Proof Bird Feeder, holds 5 lbs. of seed
  • The perches support birds, not squirrels & collapse with their weight
  • Features four curved, weight sensitive perches to feed cardinals & others
  • Easy to clean with filling from the top

I would buy again.
Need 2 replacement tubes. Bears. The power one best for squirrels. Red squirrels are the pesky ones. They have figured out how to hang on & feed.

Margaret way up north
Works For Me!
I've had this bird feeder for at least nine years, and in spite of bears pulling it down and hauling it off into the woods for some supper, it's come through just fine...once we found it again. The squirrels in northern Wisconsin must be dullards, because they haven't figured out how to get to it yet, although one smart so-and-so managed to chew the cording that holds it up, and ate the bird seed off the ground. We put the feeder out after the bears are all tucked away for the winter for obvious reasons. During the other three seasons, the birds are on their own. The reason I'm on this site is to order another one to have just in case the bears stop by again and drag the feeder off to where we can't find it. One more thing--I know this feeder is relatively pricy, but it's worth it. If we have it another year, it will have cost us a little over $10/year, which is a bargain in my book.

Rabbit in the Woods
perfect!-- if...
Lord knows I have some clever, persistent squirrels but this feeder really works. I am amazed. BUT I believe it is necessary to install so that it hangs free and away from anything (pole, tree etc) that the squirrel can grip onto in any way and reach the feeder's bird perch ring. At least two squirrels did then figure out how to wedge in on the feeder in various ways and eat. But when my squirrels had to jump to reach the feeder, or had to slide down it from the top, they have not figured out how to stay on AND be able to eat. This is based on two years of use. And includes at least one of the squirrels which had previously defeated the feeder. Yowza.

Oriole feeder
Beaten by squirrels
Put out on a pole and hook set up. Within one day squirrels figured out how to get on feeder and hang on and eat to their liking. Their weight does not interfere with them being able to feed freely. Guess this was not the best as described. I'll use it as I do not think I can get my money back as there are already teeth marks from squirrels and we all know how return policies go.

Not entirely squirrel-proof, but good!
This feeder worked very well for quite a while (there are a LOT of squirrels here). Eventually, some figured out how to wedge themselves between the perches and the tube which then enabled them to sit and dine uninterrupted. I had mine attached to a pole that had a hook. I bet it would work better on a post or pole with a baffle and no hook. Then it would probably be perfect!
