I use this with a shell-less mix. It's large enough to let a dove or squirrel sit inside it eating, but is also popular with jays and cardinals. The clear roof and tray prevent mold by allowing sunlight to reach the seeds (important in a very humid climate), even though it's hanging in partial shade. The only downsides are that the top screw comes undone frequently and the space between the bottom of the tray and the sides allow tiny seeds to get lodged there, which are difficult to get out when cleaning. Looks great too, blends in well with the environment.
