I love this feeder, especially the rain guard. My main problem with feeders is that the seed at the bottom gets wet in the rain, and then moldy, and then you have to clean out the whole thing - every time it rains. This one protects the seed from getting wet. AND you can put a ton of seed in it, so you don't need to fill very often. It's also very easy to get the top off to fill. I admit it was hard to put together - rigging that VERY tight plastic circle on it isn't for the faint of heart. I don't have a squirrel problem, since I also have a squirrel feeder, so I can't comment on whether it's squirrel resistant.

The plastic shield constantly slips and slides down the tube despite having tightened screws correctly. The metal cap flies off in strong wind and if I don't notice the seed gets ruined in the rain. The concept of this feeder is good but design needs some improvement .

I love it because the seed stays dry and last for weeks. I have mine adjusted so many of the smaller birds like juncos and chickadees eat at it. I do get a woodpecker or two that hang from it and grab a peanut half now and then.

This feeder is not good for seed like hulled sunflower, because it allows too much condensation on the inside that results in moldy seed, especially in cool moist climates. If the top were redesigned to allow ventilation, I'd give it a top rating.

I have tried so many "squirrel proof" bird feeders that failed. This one is truly squirrel proof. I have watched the squirrels try relentlessly to get to the seed and they just can't. I highly recommend this product.
