Attract birds and fill your feeder less often

Watch only small birds perch and feed from both sides of this charming "chateau" feeder. The second a squirrel lands to eat, the weight-activated perch drops down to block off access to the seed. Features clear plastic “windows” on two sides for viewing the seed levels. Includes hanger with two feeding trays and built-in perches for your birds. The roof locks to keep out critters. Suitable for common seed blends, including those with sunflower seed. The seed saving baffle prevents scattered seed to reduce waste. Made from galvanized steel with red finish. Measures 8 x 10 x 19 inches tall overall with the hanger.

  • Holds 7 lbs. of seed
  • Watch birds perch & feed from two sides
  • Features two feeding trays with weight-activated perches
  • Lift up the roof for filling from the top

Squirrel-resistant - not squirrel-proof!
Attractive feeder. Small birds love it, but sadly so do the squirrels. They dislodge the too thin wires that control the weight bar, and on occasion they manage to undo the clasp that "secures" the top and demolish the seed supply. This year theyre getting a challenge from a flock of grackles and red-wing blackbirds. I'm always amused by the antics, but feel badly for the little birds who enjoy this feeder watching from the sidelines! Luckily, I have a variety of feeders all over the yard - some of which actually are squirrel-proof!

The Red Tardis of Birdfeeders :)
This was part of my birthday present to myself :) along with another feeder & the squirrel stopper system. My intention wasn't to prevent squirrels from feeding, but it was to give the birds a feeding station of their own without competition. As I'm reviewing, I'm watching a group of finches happy at the feeder. But it took more than a week for any action-- and I'm using the same seed blend I have in my other feeders which everyone generally approves of. But, it just took them some time to get used to the whole setup. As for the squirrels though-- give them their own station & they'll leave this one alone.

I have smart squirrels.
The feeder is charming, bright red, and looks great. It's mostly frequented by chickadees and sparrows, however, I bought this feeder in the hopes of deterring my squirrels from eating the feed, and sadly, it's been unsuccessful. My smartest squirrel takes great athletic pleasure in hanging upside down, with its tail wrapped around the hanger, using its front paws to remove food from the tray. If this feeder were on a pole in another location, this probably wouldn't be an issue, but we have limited space in the backyard, so the hanger is close enough to trees that the squirrels, like brilliant ninjas, have figured out some impressive acrobatics to feed from it. I recommend this only if you have enough space around the feeder that squirrels can't climb or leap to it.
