Beautiful feeder!
The two Cardinals that visit us multiple times daily are the most habitual creatures I have ever seen. They refuse to use any of our other feeders, despite any attempts of coaxing with the most tempting of seed and placements. The hanging platform that every other bird adores, they are seemingly blind to. Every other style feeder we have goes unnoticed. They are ground feeders through and through and will not step outside that realm, though they happily perch next to other feeders, above them, and amidst the branches. Their feeder of choice? A cheap plastic dish on the ground with no cover or drainage (it came with a pole feeder system). So after much researching we settled on this lovely feeder, which is as perfect as we can get for these apparent divas. We decided against caged, and simply went with Safflower seed. Well, our Chickadees adore this feeder, Titmouses frequent it, and Mourning Doves love it. We put peanuts in as well, so squirrels will poke in to steal a few, but that's perfectly fine. I've seen no pigeons or grackles in it. The Cardinals have been grabbing peanuts from it, but have not fully committed to it quite yet, though I think it's only a matter of time, and we can retire the little plastic dish for good! I love the recycled plastic feeders, no worries with mold/mildew, this has excellent drainage, stays nice and clean, and will be a great all season feeder with no rust concerns either. The clear roof is a must for the size, and it is overall a great addition to our bird feeding station.

We love our birds
Great Ground Feeder
I loved that all our birds immediately took to this ground feeder. It was such a huge hit that all our doves were trying to get in and eat the bird seed too. I found they are getting stuck and not able to get out as easily as our little birds like our sparrows, juncos, cardinals, warblers and chickadees. I am concerned the doves will be an easier target to the hawks in the area if they are caught in the feeder.

Check it out!
Desirable features of this feeder are the clear acrylic roof & the mesh floor which help the birdseed to breathe & stay dry. All of the garden variety birds have been visiting this feeder. A hint: I use safflower seeds exclusively, which the birds enjoy just as much as sunflower seeds. By using only safflower seeds, the squirrels & starlings don't bother my feeder or terrorize the other birds because safflower is distasteful to these little furry & black-feathered devourers.
