Overall great. Quality is excellent, a real cut above all other feeders I have owned. Finches, chickadees, and smaller woodpeckers can get inside it. With 8 perches, all well placed, it fits a lot of birds. Keeps bigger birds, and squirrels, out very effectively. Just about all sizes of woodpeckers can still get at the food, even from the outer cage, due to their long beaks. But still, I'm saving money on bird seed by screening out all the others. I have 2 feeder poles, and ended up putting 2 of these on one pole, which is my "small bird area". That way the big birds rarely even go to that pole, which means the little birds are there much more often than when the feed was next to another (non-cage) feeder and the big birds scared them off. Also, I did transition the birds to this feeder over the course of several weeks - probably not necessary but I did not want to lose all of my finches. Well worth the money.

First of all I love all wildlife. However, I had grown increasingly frustrated with how aggressive the blackbirds were. Thought I solved the problem by taking down my platform feeder. I thought ," No way those great big birds could get in my thistle feeder. They can and they did. I tried another caged feeder I found at the local big box store but that just seemed to confuse the birds. Not the blackbirds of course. Almost had given up when an internet search brought me to Dunctaft. 3 times as much as I paid at the big box store but 10 minutes after I put it up the goldfinches and chickadees had figured it out. 0 blackbirds. Appears well made and I'm feeding the birds I want to feed. I don't mind paying extra if something works. By the way, excellent customer service. Wanted to write a review right after purchase but was having trouble seeing up an account. Within 24 hours of emailing Dunctaft I had a response and an account. I'm happy Goldfinches and chickadees are happy. Blackbirds not so much

This is a first rate bird feeder that my squirrels tried only once before moving on. It is well constructed and engineered, our Orioles love to the degree they ignore the worm and grape jelly Orioles feeder we bought to attract them. Small birds can eat safely and I now have a reliable, efficient feeder that attracts a myriad of bird species. Went online today not to review this but to buy another…
