Keeps bees and ant away
For years I used the old standard feeder with the bottle that hung upside down with the four feeding stations but by the end of the summer the ants and the bees would take over the feeder. So I bought this to get rid of the pests and it worked. The only problem was that the humming birds didn't care for it either. They would come by it and fly around it and then leave. So I finally decided to remove the weather guard and the very next day I had humming birds going to the feeder. Something about that dome they didn't like.

What is wrong with those crazy Hummingbirds?
This feeder is wonderful, HOWEVER no hummingbirds drink from it! The only birds that use it are the downy woodpeckers! When I first hung it up a male ruby throated hummer stopped at my lantana and feasted for a minute. Then he flew up and I thought he may have glanced at the feeder and then he flew away. I've never once seen him or any other hummers at the feeder or the regular old one either. They are cleaned too. I love this feeder though. Easier to deal with than the others. Susan

I love this feeder. It is the best, longest lasting feeder.
Hummingbirds are my favorite wild pets. Here in the Pacific Northwest we can keep hummingbirds year around. Rufus stay from March through most of July. Anna's are here year around. In frosty weather I have to get the feeders out at dawn and bring them in after dusk.

Not for humming birds
I put this out and it immediately drew birds in...just not humming birds. I have seen one hummingbird since I put it out a month ago. It hovered over it then flew off. I haven't seen one since. That being said, the Baltimore Orioles and catbirds love it and visit it daily. I think the dish that holds the nectar is too deep. When the nectar gets to a certain level the birds can't get too it.

Bought one and now buying a second one.
Absolutely love this feeder. Easy to clean and fill. Only thing that would make it even better is if it would hold more liquid. We have 4 hummingbirds on it so often and it doesn't take long for them to empty it. Buying my second one today.
