My Squirrel was Frantic
I had tried everything to keep my squirrel out of the suet. One particular squirrel even had a taste for red pepper suet. He was so frustrated by my new feeder that he tried to chew through the wires in the outer cage in order to get to the suet. I don't think he succeeded because he seems to have given up. However, when I went to add new suet cakes, I realized that the orange tinge on the wires was not from the red pepper in the remaining suet cakes, but from rust on the wires. In his desperation, the squirrel had chewed the coating off many of the wires on the outer cage. I will need to repaint and recoat them before winter.

Great feeder, but baby sparrows are getting trapped
I feed hundreds of Blue Jays, Woodpeckers, and Black-cap chickadees, and sparrows. In addition I see several other breeds now and then. Lately, I have had to take wire-cutters out and free baby sparrows that get tangled up in the inside area. I suggest that the separation between wires on the inner box be reduced by about 1/8th inch or so.

Great for Grays
Buying a second one for all our new baby Downy woodpeckers. They can climb right into the feeder. Chickadees love it too. The birds are so small, they can get through the outer wire cage and get to the suet. Unfortunately, the red squirrels have figured it out and can squeeze right through the wire and get to the suet. The grays can't fit through and eat all the suet.

love it!!!
We are really enjoying this product. It is well worth the price. The suet you keep away from the squirrels saves you money.

Suet feeder
I put this suet feeder up on a Sunday morning. By that afternoon chickadees were using it. Day two brought tufted titmouse, downy woodpecker and purple finch. The nuthatch is still a little wary of it. Doesn't want to go inside. So far I am very pleased with this feeder. If it keeps the starlings away I will be ecstatic.
