I bought this product many years ago when it first became available. It cost considerably less then, but it looks as shiny and new now as it did then and functions perfectly, so even though I have to pay the high price Duncraft has put on it, I know the product will last a long time so pro-rated, the expense is reasonable. Many inexpensive poles rust or fall apart, the locking mechanisms seize-up and become unusable, and need to be replaced multiple times. Looked at this way, the cost becomes the same, so why bother with the cheap ones? I really like the versatility of this pole setup. I can either face it onto the deck or away from the deck, I can lengthen or shorten the extension, and I can rotate the pole to bring the feeder in for filling or cleaning, or lock it in place so it is stable in the wind. Well designed and extremely functional. I definitely recommend it.

I bought this pole because I've had so many problems with squirrels. Well, I must say that it has kept the squirrels away! They still climb onto my railing but they can't get to the bird feeder. I love it so much that I am going to buy another one! Love the fact that I can swivel the arm to take the bird feeder in at night. We have had a problem with a bear coming onto my deck and destroying the bird feeders and bending the poles like a matchstick. So, I do not want this pole to get destroyed - so I take all my feeders in at night. A little pricey but worth the money. I would definitely recommend this pole feeder to anyone.

This utility pole has been great for one of my hummingbird feeders for a few years now, and for seed feeders in the winter. It's not squirrel-proof,but the squirrels don't bother the nectar feeders. I'm purchasing a second pole today to hang Oriole feeders on the opposite side of the deck.
