I bought two of these boxes hoping to attract tree swallows which I see flying around my neighborhood. I was pleasantly surprised to have a beautiful bluebird couple using this house (now on their second year). I love the bluebirds equally as much as the swallows and these bluebirds are so sweet. They wait for me to put out mealworms and are such gentle souls. I am extremely happy with my purchase. Sparrows have found these boxes unattractive!!

I have used Duncraft nest boxes since I started my bluebird/tree swallow trail in 2012. The boxes are much improved now with durable poly lumber construction, easier access for safely monitoring nests (essential!), and much improved metal posts. I especially appreciate easy-access doors to the boxes that let me check nests and made-in-USA metal posts featuring a top portion that fits over the bottom portion (vs. the other way around). This year, four bluebird families and two tree swallow families successfully used my Duncraft boxes. Thank you for continuing to make your boxes ever better!

Placed this in an area where we had trouble with House Sparrows. Added 3 strings dangling down from the roof overhang in front. Also added a white plastic roof spaced 1/2 inch above the house roof for cooling (no shade in this spot). Tree Swallows started using it immediately. The sparrows, that had been a problem with a round hole house just the week before showed no interest in the new oval opening house. Fledged 6 swallows from the house this summer.
