I was attracted to this feeder based on the write-up in the catalog. It is certainly well made, attractive and would deter squirrels. However our pigeons took only a few minutes to figure out how to perch on it and not close the feeder ports. Redwing black birds (which I figured it would not deter because they are fairly light) also can eat from it. The grackles have not arrived up here yet this spring, but I am guessing they too will have no problem eating from this feeder. So if you are buying to deter larger birds as well as squirrels be forewarned. I did not prevent our larger birds from using it at all. We tried all three spring settings and it still does not work. Very disappointed.

Love this feeder. It was damaged a little bit when received. I had to bend it a little to fix it.
